Open Source Point of Sale is a solid retail system. For a shop selling items across a counter — billing products, tracking stock — it works well and has a large community.
A tailor shop does not sell boxes from a shelf. Its "inventory" is customer measurements (naap), and its "products" are orders with delivery dates. OSPOS gives you a customer module, but the tailoring heart — nine measurements per customer, order stages from silai to ready, karigar assignment and WhatsApp order status — is simply not what a retail POS was built to do.
| OSPOS (retail POS) | NaapPro | |
|---|---|---|
| Full customer naap (measurements) | ❌ | ✅ 9+ fields |
| Orders with delivery dates | Partial | ✅ Kanban statuses |
| Udhaar / outstanding report | Basic | ✅ Per-customer |
| Karigar payroll | ❌ | ✅ Suits × rate |
| WhatsApp order status for customers | ❌ | ✅ Private links + QR |
| Works simply on a phone | Designed for counter | ✅ Mobile-first |
If you already run OSPOS and it works for you, keep it. If you are a tailor shop that wants orders, naap and udhaar managed properly — and customers who stop calling to ask "ready?" — NaapPro was built for exactly that. Free to start, and we help you move your customers over.
